About Technic

Not the retail Technic line

It is easy to confuse this sub-theme with the main Technic range, but the two have little in common beyond the parts. Instead of cars, cranes or machines, you will find assortments of individual elements meant to keep classroom Technic kits running. Each pack concentrates on one kind of element or a small group of related parts. The theme covers three decades, from 1985 to 2015, which makes it a useful record of the small parts that schools relied on.

The biggest packs, by part type

Connectors dominate the top of the list. Assortment of Connectors (9851-1) from 1992 is the largest pack with 453 pieces, followed much later by Technic Connectors (5003200-1) with 268 pieces in 2014. Connectors & Bushings (9942-1) from 1998 has 160, and Connector Peg (1316-1) from 1987 has 150. Chains are the second big group: Technic Chainlinks (1317-1) from 1987 holds 350 pieces and Chain Link Pack (9852-1) from 1992 holds 229.
