About The LEGO Movie

Everything mixed together

The film plays with the idea that every theme can meet every other theme, and the sets follow that spirit. Emmet, Wyldstyle, Vitruvius, Unikitty, Batman, MetalBeard and Benny the 1980s-something spaceman team up against Lord Business, who wants to glue the world in place. As a result, the range combines Wild West saloons, a pirate ship, police dropships and a classic-style spaceship. Many models reward rebuilding, which fits the film's message about following instructions versus building freely.

From Sea Cow to Super Cycle

MetalBeard's Sea Cow (70810-1) is the giant of the range with 2,743 pieces, a patchwork pirate ship that borrows from many different themes. Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! (70816-1) follows with 940 pieces in the blue-and-grey look of classic space sets. Rescue Reinforcements (70813-1, 859 pieces), Super Secret Police Dropship (70815-1, 854 pieces), Lord Business' Evil Lair (70809-1, 738 pieces) and Emmet's Construct-o-Mech (70814-1, 708 pieces) fill the mid-range. Super Cycle Chase (70808-1, 514 pieces) and Creative Ambush (70812-1, 474 pieces) are among the smaller chase sets. All of the largest models date from 2014.

A finished range

The first movie range ended in 2015 after a short but busy run, with most of its 75 sets concentrated in the film year of 2014. Sets for the 2019 sequel have their own page under the sub-theme The LEGO Movie II. With so many unusual elements and mixed colours, the sets are a good source of parts, and the parts lists show exactly what each one contains.
