Scenes from the 1970s
The range was tied to Minions: The Rise of Gru, a film set in the 1970s whose release was eventually pushed back to 2022. As a result, the sets reached shops well before the film itself. Ideas from the story appear throughout: kung fu training, a chase on a motorbike, flying lessons and Gru's early laboratory. The Minions are represented by specially designed figures with rounded heads and goggles, which makes them easy to spot among ordinary minifigures.

The largest model is Brick-Built Minions and Their Lair (75551-1) from 2020. At 876 pieces it is more of a display build, as the Minions are made from bricks at a much larger scale.
