About Super Mario
How the interactive system works
The core idea is an electronic figure that reacts to what it stands on. Mario has a colour sensor and small screens for his eyes, mouth and chest, and he collects coins as you guide him through a course built from bricks. Luigi followed in 2021 and Peach in 2022, so two people can play together. Starter courses provide a figure plus a start and finish, while expansion sets add obstacles, enemies and bosses. Small character packs, sold as blind bags, fill the shelves with Goombas, Koopas and other residents of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Models for grown-up fans
Alongside the play sets came display models. The Mighty Bowser (71411-1, 2022) is the largest at 2,807 pieces. The Nintendo Entertainment System (71374-1, 2020) has 2,646 pieces and recreates the console with a retro television, while the Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block (71395-1, 2021) opens up to reveal levels from the game in 2,064 pieces. Mario Kart then became a focus: Mario Kart – Mario & Standard Kart (72037-1) arrived in 2025 with 1,972 pieces, followed in 2026 by Mario Kart – Luigi & Mach 8 (72050-1) with 2,234 pieces.
