The film adapted a classic Japanese animated series about a young driver and his car, the Mach 5. Most of the sets pair two drivers and their cars: Speed Racer & Snake Oiler (8158-1) has 242 pieces, Racer X & Taejo Togokhan (8159-1) has 237 and Cruncher Block & Racer X (8160-1) has 367.
