The subject matter is classic Town: police chases, fire engines, rescue units, a coast guard base and a cargo depot. What sets the line apart is how the models are built. Larger, more specialised elements take the place of many small bricks, so a vehicle or building comes together in fewer steps. That approach helped children move up from bigger bricks to the standard system, although many adult fans felt it reduced the scope for rebuilding and customising. Many sets still include several minifigures, so the play value stays high even with fewer parts.

Super Rescue Complex (6464-1) from 1999 tops the list with 348 pieces. Police Headquarters (6636-1, 2002) has 291 pieces and Command Post Central (6332-1) has 289. Blaze Brigade (6554-1), one of the 1997 sets, comes in at 259 pieces, with Cargo Express Hub (6330-1) at 246. Coast Guard HQ (6435-1, 229 pieces), Roadblock Runners (6549-1, 193 pieces) and the Shell Select Shop (1254-1, 165 pieces) complete the group of larger releases.

Where Town Jr. fits

The line covers a period of change. It started alongside the many branded Town sub-themes of the late 1990s and carried on into the early 2000s, when the city line was being reshaped ahead of the later City range.
