Description

A navy vessel, not a pirate ship

Every pirate story needs someone to chase the pirates, and in the LEGO® Pirates world that role has long belonged to the soldiers of a colonial power. The Imperial Flagship is their flagship, a heavily built sailing vessel meant to take on the pirates' own fleet. It dates from the relaunch of the theme around 2009 and 2010, listed in the catalogue as Pirates II. For anyone with a pirate ship already on the shelf, this is the natural opponent.

Dark timbers and a focused inventory

Black is the most common colour, followed by reddish brown, dark brown and light bluish grey. Together they give the hull the look of weathered, tarred wood, a far cry from brightly coloured toy boats. Only 202 of the 1,668 pieces are unique, so many elements appear in large quantities. In practice that means stretches of the build where the hull grows layer by layer from similar parts, before the rigging and deck details bring more variety.

Crewing the decks
