Description

A console from the eighties

The model follows the shape and proportions of the original NES closely: the grey console body, the hinged cartridge flap and a controller with a working directional pad are all present. The matching CRT television is rebuilt too, aerial and all, sitting on a brick-built stand. Anyone who owned the real console in the 1980s or 90s will recognise plenty of small touches, right down to the vents and cable connections. Even the cartridge flap opens and closes just like the real hardware did.

Grey, black and blue tones

The parts list leans heavily on neutral colours: black and the two greys, light bluish grey and dark bluish grey, build up the casing and electronics, while medium blue picks out screen details and smaller accents. With 517 different part types across roughly 2,600 pieces, there's far more variety here than in a typical mosaic set, and the build itself feels correspondingly more varied step to step. Calm stretches of casing alternate with fiddlier, more technical sequences throughout.

A moving screen, not a static model

Rather than a fixed display piece, the television hides a small mechanism: turning a hand crank scrolls a Mario level across the screen, creating the illusion of gameplay.
