Walkers in the woods

In Return of the Jedi, the Empire guards its shield generator on the forest moon of Endor with AT-ST walkers. They tower over the undergrowth until the Ewoks and Rebels fight back with logs, rocks and cunning, and Chewbacca famously takes control of one. The walker first appears briefly on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back, but it is the Endor battle that made it a favourite. Its boxy head and spindly legs are instantly recognisable.

Compact and focused

With one vehicle and one minifigure, set 7657 keeps things simple. The 243 pieces cover 80 different part designs, so even though the legs mirror each other, the build does not feel repetitive. The finished walker is small enough for a desk and slots easily into a larger Endor scene with Ewok villages or speeder bikes. Younger fans get a sturdy toy, while collectors get a key piece of the Imperial ground forces.

Greys, black and a touch of blue

Light and dark bluish grey give the walker its metallic Imperial look, with black at the joints and details and blue rounding out the main colours. Grey parts are the most reusable of all, fitting spacecraft, machinery, castles and modern buildings alike.
