The V-wing belongs to the final phase of the Clone Wars. In Revenge of the Sith, squadrons of these small, agile fighters flown by clone pilots escort the Jedi into the battle above Coruscant at the start of the film. Its vertical wings and compact body already hint at the TIE fighters that would soon replace it under the Empire. The ship also appears in the final episodes of The Clone Wars, placing it right at the turning point of the saga.
