About World City
Bridging Town and City
After a decade of small, separately branded sub-themes, World City brought the city sets back under one banner. It sits within the Town hierarchy and covers the years just before the City range took over as the main urban line. The focus was on a few core subjects: railways, police and coastal services. Compared with the late-90s sub-themes, the sets feel more like parts of one shared city.
A strong railway range
Trains are the standout. Train Engine Shed (10027-1) is the largest World City set at 670 pieces, and Cargo Train (4512-1) follows with 547. Grand Central Station (4513-1, 351 pieces) and High Speed Train (4511-1, 336 pieces) complete the core of the rail line. Train Level Crossing appears twice, as 10128-1 from 2003 and as a 2005 re-release, 10128-2, both at 327 pieces. Together they give you rolling stock, a station, a level crossing and a depot for maintenance.
Police and coast watch
Away from the tracks, Police HQ (7035-1, 423 pieces) and Coast Watch HQ (7047-1, 367 pieces) are the two biggest buildings, each supported by smaller vehicles and boats. These sets gave the city its emergency services and mirror the long tradition of police and coastguard models in Town. Many of the smaller vehicles were sold as separate sets, so you can expand a street or harbour scene step by step instead of starting with a large building.
