A licence within Racers

Racers ran from 2001 to 2012 and gathered all kinds of car and racing sets. The Ferrari sub-theme gave it a real-world anchor. Instead of invented vehicles, builders got recognisable cars in Ferrari red, from the Formula One machines raced by Scuderia Ferrari to road-going sports cars. Some sets were aimed at younger builders who wanted something to play with, while the large-scale models worked more as display pieces for older fans.

Scale models worth displaying

Several sets state their scale in the name, which makes them easy to compare. Enzo Ferrari 1:10 (8653-1) from 2005 is the largest with 1,360 pieces, followed by Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano 1:10 (8145-1) from 2007 with 1,326 pieces. On the Formula One side, Ferrari F1 Racer 1:8 (8674-1) has 1,246 pieces, Ferrari F1 1:9 (8157-1) has 997 and the earlier Ferrari F1 Racer 1:10 (8386-1) from 2004 has 719.

Pit crews and transporters

Not every set is a single car. Scuderia Ferrari Truck (8654-1) comes with 823 pieces, while Ferrari 248 F1 Team (8144-1) and its variant Ferrari F1 Team (8144-2) both appeared in 2007 with 732 and 731 pieces respectively. These team sets work well if you want to build a small paddock scene around the cars.
