About Playsets

Scenery for the story

While the main Bionicle line focused on large poseable figures, the playsets gave the story locations to play out in, usually with small-scale figures that fit the structures. Battle of Metru Nui (8759-1) from 2005 is the biggest at 876 pieces, more than any set filed directly under the parent theme. Tower of Toa (8758-1, 412 pieces) and Visorak's Gate (8769-1, 335 pieces) came out in the same year.

Voya Nui and the deep sea

The 2006 sets follow the story to Voya Nui: Piraka Stronghold (8894-1) with 649 pieces, Race for the Mask of Life (8624-1) with 507 and Lava Chamber Gate (8893-1) with 375. In 2007 the action moved underwater, and the vehicles reflect that. Toa Terrain Crawler (8927-1) reaches 673 pieces and Toa Undersea Attack (8926-1) has 399.
