About Exo-Force
Pilots versus robots
The story is a war over a mountain, fought between the people who built the robots and the machines that turned against them. On one side are human pilots, recognisable by their spiky, anime-style hair, who fight in walking battle machines. On the other are robots with their own tanks and walkers. Many sets pack both factions into a single box, which is why so many names contain vs., as in Bridge Walker vs. White Lightning (7713-1) with 657 pieces.
The heavyweights
Sentai Fortress (7709-1) from 2006 is the flagship at 1,458 pieces, a mountain base for the human side. Mobile Devastator (8108-1) from 2007 is the only other set above a thousand, at 1,009 pieces. Striking Venom (7707-1) with 648 pieces, Combat Crawler X2 (7721-1) with 581 and Fight for the Golden Tower (8107-1) with 571 make up the next tier. Notably, all eight of the largest sets date from the first two years, 2006 and 2007. Gate Assault (7705-1, 402 pieces) and Mobile Defense Tank (7706-1, 365 pieces) complete the eight largest sets.
A source of joints
The mechs rely heavily on ball joints and ratchet hinges so that legs, arms and weapons can be posed. For builders who design their own robots, the theme is still a useful reference, since the same joint pieces turn up again and again across the 52 sets. Even the smaller mechs, with a few hundred pieces at most, show the typical proportions and details of the line.
