About Heroes

What the heroes are

Rather than minifigures, the heroes are posable figures made of joints, limbs and armour plates. In the story they are robots assembled at the Hero Factory and sent out on missions, and a core team including Stormer, Furno, Bulk, Surge, Breez and Rocka returns in new versions wave after wave. Their opponents have a separate sub-theme, Villains, so between the two you have the whole Hero Factory range.

From the first wave to the XL editions

The first year includes Dunkan Bulk and Vapor (7179-1), an 89-piece set that pairs a hero with a villain. Larger XL editions of individual heroes arrived later: Rocka XL (2282-1) in 2011 with 174 pieces, Stormer XL (6230-1) in 2012 with 89 and Furno XL (44000-1) in 2013 with 103. The biggest hero set of all is Jet Rocka (44014-1) from 2013, at 290 pieces.

Machines in the final year

The 2014 sets put heroes in charge of vehicles and walkers. SURGE & ROCKA Combat Machine (44028-1) has 188 pieces, BULK Drill Machine (44025-1) 113 and BREEZ Flea Machine (44027-1) 102. These models give the last wave more of a playset feel than the single figures of earlier years. Collectors who want the full story therefore need both the figure-only sets of the early years and these larger vehicle builds.

Rebuilding a collection

Hero Factory parts often turn up loose in second-hand lots. Every set page on Bricoria lists the parts needed, so you can sort a mixed box back into complete heroes and see which pieces are still missing.
