About Hero Factory
The premise
Heroes are manufactured, not born: in the story they are assembled at the Hero Factory and sent out on missions to stop villains. Characters such as Furno, Evo, Stormer, Breez and Rocka appear again and again in the set names. The theme is split into two sub-themes, Heroes and Villains, which makes it easy to follow one side or the other, or to build up matching pairs of opponents.
How the figures are built
Rather than a pile of bricks, a Hero Factory set is built around a skeleton of ball-jointed limbs to which armour plates, weapons and a head are attached. The result is a sturdy figure that can be posed and played with. The same system of joints and armour carried the theme through several story waves until 2014. Because the parts are compatible with other buildable figure lines, many builders use Hero Factory sets as a source for their own creations.
Largest sets
Drop Ship (7160-1) from 2010 is the biggest set at 394 pieces, a vehicle to carry the heroes into action. From 2014 comes QUEEN Beast vs. FURNO, EVO & STORMER (44029-1) with 218 pieces, followed by EVO XL Machine (44022-1) with 193. Furno Bike (7158-1), also from 2010, has 165 pieces. Several 2014 sets pair a hero with a beast, such as SPLITTER Beast vs. FURNO & EVO (44021-1) with 108 pieces and FLYER Beast vs. BREEZ (44020-1) with 91, while ROCKA Stealth Machine (44019-1) and STORMER Freeze Machine (44017-1) have 89 and 88 pieces.
