A pocket-sized Creator line

X-Pod sits within the Creator theme, which focuses on open-ended building rather than a single fixed model. Each pod holds a small selection of bricks in a round two-part case that doubles as storage. The format suits quick builds: you put a model together, take it apart again and keep every piece in the case until next time. Because the sets are so small, they were an easy way to add a handful of useful parts to a collection.

Subjects and sizes

The names show how varied the line was. There are robots, aircraft, cars, sea craft, spiders, dinosaurs and dragons, often with a colour or creature in the title. None of the sets is large. Robo Pod (4416-1) from 2006 tops the list at 64 pieces, followed by Aero Pod (4417-1) with 60 and Arachno Pod (4413-1) with 57. Aqua Pod (4339-1) and Auto Pod (4415-1) each have 56 pieces, Dino Pod (4418-1) has 55, Dragon Pod (4337-1) has 52 and Black Robots Pod (4335-1) from 2004 has 50.

Three years of pods

The line ran from 2004 to 2006, with Black Robots Pod among the first releases and Robo Pod, Aero Pod, Auto Pod and Dino Pod arriving in the final year. Since the piece counts stay in a narrow band, the pods are easy to compare side by side, and collectors often group them by colour or subject. Owning several also opens up more possibilities, because the parts from different pods can be combined into larger models of your own.
