About Nexo Knights
Castle meets code
The theme was set in the kingdom of Knighton, where five young knights, Clay, Macy, Lance, Aaron and Axl, defend the realm against Jestro, a jester turned villain who uses the Book of Monsters. Their mentor is Merlok 2.0, a wizard who lives on as a computer program. An animated series ran alongside the sets. Each knight carried shields with printed Nexo Powers that could be scanned into a companion app game.
Big bases on both sides
The largest set is Knighton Castle (70357-1) from 2017 with 1,426 pieces. The knights' mobile headquarters, The Fortrex (70317-1), arrived in 2016 with 1,140 pieces, the same year as Jestro's Volcano Lair (70323-1) at 1,186. The villains also got Jestro's Headquarters (70352-1, 840 pieces) and Jestro's Evil Mobile (70316-1, 658 pieces), while The Stone Colossus of Ultimate Destruction (70356-1) from 2017 brought a giant stone monster with 786 pieces.
Vehicles and the final year
Vehicles were central to the theme's play. Axl's Tower Carrier (70322-1) has 670 pieces, and Axl's Rolling Arsenal (72006-1) from 2018, the last year of the line, has 604. Many sets use distinctive armour pieces and printed shields, so the parts lists are a good way to check a used set before you buy it.
Building a Knighton display
With 110 sets in three years, Nexo Knights is a compact theme with a clear beginning and end. Knighton Castle and The Fortrex make natural centrepieces, with the smaller vehicles and monster builds arranged around them.
