About Castle
Two phases of castles
The first phase ran from 2004 to 2006 and produced the biggest models, including Knights' Castle (4777-1) from 2004 and Black Castle (4785-1) from 2005. A single Castle (4864-1) followed in 2008. After a gap, the theme returned in 2014 with Big Royal Castle (10577-1) and Treasure Attack (10569-1). Throughout, the builds keep the chunky proportions of Duplo, so they are easy to put together and sturdy enough for role play.
From towers to fortresses
Black Castle stands out at 386 pieces, more than twice the size of any other set here. Knights' Castle has 168 pieces, Big Royal Castle 135 and the 2008 Castle 115. Smaller boxes such as Dragon Tower (4776-1, 65 pieces), Defense Tower (4779-1, 64 pieces) and Dragon Tournament (7846-1, 44 pieces) work well as additions to a larger castle or as a first knight set.
Combining sets
