About Princess Castle
How the line grew
It started small in 2004 with Princess' Bedroom (4822-1), a 13-piece set. In 2005 came the centrepiece, Princess' Palace (4820-1) with 81 pieces, alongside Princess' Horse and Carriage (4821-1) with 18. After a pause, 2007 brought three more: Princess Royal Stables (4828-1, 49 pieces), Princess and Pony Picnic (4826-1, 19 pieces) and Princess and Horse (4825-1, 8 pieces). The gap in 2006 is visible in the data, with no sets listed for that year.
Horses everywhere
Half of the sets feature a horse or pony in their name, and the stables are the second-largest model. Combined with the palace, they form a small royal estate that children can build out with any other Duplo bricks they have. The sets are aimed squarely at toddlers who enjoy role play and storytelling. The picnic and the carriage give the characters somewhere to go beyond the palace walls.
