About Extreme Team

A short-lived Town spin-off

The late 1990s saw Town split into a string of small sub-themes, each with its own logo, characters and storyline. Extreme Team was the one built around speed and showmanship: drag racers, gliders, buggies and a flying squad of daredevils. Rather than the everyday life of police stations and petrol stations, these sets focus on competitions and spectacle, with minifigures kitted out as drivers and pilots. Most of the range arrived in 1998, with a few smaller additions in 1999 before the line was retired.

From challenge arenas to pocket-sized racers

The flagship is Extreme Team Challenge (6584-1) at 364 pieces, which bundles several vehicles and figures into one competition scene. Drag Race Rally (6568-1, 297 pieces) pits two dragsters against each other, while Daredevil Flight Squad (6582-1, 288 pieces) takes the action into the air.
