What the sets cover
The theme mixes a couple of larger competition sets with a good number of small single vehicles. You get monster-style trucks for off-road rallies, rocket-powered dragsters for straight-line sprints and nimble buggies. Most releases date from 2000, with a few small cars added in 2001. Compared with the late-90s Extreme Team line, Race focuses more on the vehicles themselves and less on stunt scenes. The vehicles use bold colours and racing decals, and they fit on the same road plates as other Town sets.
The biggest models
Tough Truck Rally (6617-1) leads with 385 pieces, followed by Grip 'n' Go Challenge (6713-1) at 283 pieces. Rocket Dragster (6616-1) has 147 pieces. Further down the list are Speed Dragster (6714-1, 79 pieces), Scorpion Buggy (6602-2, 78 pieces) and Turbo Tiger (6519-1, 47 pieces), while Yellow Tiger (1285-1, 24 pieces) and Turbo Racer (1272-1, 23 pieces) are small polybag-sized builds.
