Description

Small craft, big scene

The Battle of Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back is one of the saga's great set pieces. As the Empire's AT-AT walkers advance on the rebel base, snowspeeder pilots discover their blasters are useless against the armour and switch to tow cables, wrapping them round the walkers' legs to bring them down. The snowspeeder itself is a compact, wedge-shaped craft, and this model gives it the attention usually reserved for much larger ships.

Detail density

At 280 unique parts across 1,457 pieces, the inventory is unusually varied. A small vehicle scaled up for display needs lots of detailing to avoid looking plain, and that is where many of those parts go: cockpit, rear section and the angled surfaces of the hull. The build keeps introducing new elements and asks for accuracy on the sloping panels. The finished model is modest in size compared with larger Ultimate Collector Series sets but rich in detail.

Old greys and white parts
