What sets the Y-wing apart from sleeker rebel fighters is its open midsection, where pipes, frames and mechanical detail sit uncovered between the cockpit and the engine nacelles. From Yavin to Endor

Y-wings fly alongside X-wings in the attack on the first Death Star in A New Hope, diving into the trench under heavy fire. They return in Return of the Jedi for the Battle of Endor. Compared with the X-wing, the Y-wing looks older and more battered, a ship kept flying through repairs rather than replaced. That rugged character is exactly what the model captures with its mix of light and dark tones.

Colours and the included figure

Light bluish grey and white form the base colours, while dark bluish grey and black give depth to the open sections.
