In A New Hope, Luke Skywalker flies an X-wing down the trench of the first Death Star and fires the shot that destroys it. The four wings that split into an X during combat gave the fighter its name and made it one of the most recognisable ships in film. It returns throughout the original trilogy and later stories as the backbone of the Rebel fleet. A mini version like 30051 does not attempt every detail, but it keeps the four wings, the long nose and the overall silhouette that makes the ship so easy to identify.

What is in the box

The model uses 61 pieces made up of 28 distinct elements, with no minifigures, so the ship itself is the whole focus.
