Luke's hologram

Return of the Jedi opens with R2-D2 and C-3PO walking up to the gates of Jabba the Hutt's palace. Once inside, R2-D2 projects a recorded message from Luke Skywalker, asking Jabba to release Han Solo, who hangs frozen in carbonite on the wall. Jabba refuses and keeps both droids for himself.
