Description

Why podracing

The podrace on Tatooine is one of the standout sequences of The Phantom Menace. Young Anakin Skywalker, still a slave, pilots a podracer he has built himself against far more experienced rivals, and his victory wins him his freedom and a place alongside Qui-Gon Jinn. Podracers are strange machines, a small cockpit towed by two enormous engines on long cables, and they lend themselves to fast, chaotic play. It is easy to see why the subject suited an open-ended set.

Bucket format

As the name suggests, the parts come in a bucket, a format more often associated with general brick collections than with licensed themes. That gives the set an open feel. The 293 pieces cover 102 different part designs, a broad selection that also lends itself to racers and vehicles of your own design. With three minifigures, there are enough characters to set up a small race on the living room floor.

The old greys

The main colours are light grey, dark grey, blue and black. The greys are the original shades that LEGO® used until the switch to bluish grey in 2004.
