Deploying the droid army

In The Phantom Menace, the Trade Federation occupies Naboo with an army of battle droids, and the MTT is how those droids reach the ground. The bulky transports roll across the grasslands and through the approaches to Theed before unloading their troops. They are also part of the build-up to the large battle between the droid army and the Gungans. For anyone collecting the Separatist ground forces from Episode I, the MTT is one of the key vehicles to have alongside the tanks and landing ships.

A figure-heavy set

Seven minifigures is a large cast for a set of 466 pieces, and it changes how the model plays. A transport needs passengers, and here there are plenty to load, deploy and send into action. That makes it a good choice if you enjoy setting up battle scenes rather than just displaying finished models. Combined with other sets from the same film, it can anchor a larger Naboo diorama, with the transport acting as the obvious centrepiece of an advancing column.

Built in 2000

This is an early set from the first years of LEGO® Star Wars, and the colour list shows it.
