Description

Across the Tatooine desert

In A New Hope, the landspeeder is Luke's everyday transport on Tatooine, a hovering open-top car that skims across the sand. He uses it to search for R2-D2 after the droid runs off, which leads him to Obi-Wan Kenobi, and later to drive into Mos Eisley in search of a pilot. It is the vehicle that carries Luke away from his old life, so it has a special place among the machines of the original trilogy.
