The Gungan Grand Army

In The Phantom Menace, the Gungans live in underwater cities beneath the lakes of Naboo. They join forces with the Naboo humans against the Trade Federation, and their army meets the droid forces in an open-field battle while the young queen retakes her palace. A patrol is a smaller part of that world: a few troops on the lookout rather than the full battle line, which makes this a good starting point for building up Gungan forces.

Old greys and a date stamp

The colour list reads light grey, tan, black and dark grey. Those greys are the original shades used until 2004, before the switch to the bluish greys found in newer sets. For collectors, that detail works almost like a date stamp and explains why some people keep old and new greys in separate boxes: side by side, the difference is easy to see. Tan rounds out the mix and suits natural scenery.

Built quickly, played with often
