Description

A splash of green

Green tops the colour list, followed by dark grey, light grey and black. Most Star Wars vehicles lean on grey, white or black, so a set led by green is a welcome change on any shelf. The greys here are the older shades used before the switch to bluish grey, which matters if you are completing a used copy: newer parts will not match exactly. Defending Naboo

In The Phantom Menace, the Trade Federation occupies Naboo and the planet's royal security forces are badly outgunned. Their light, open speeders are fast but offer little protection, and they appear around the capital, Theed, as Queen Amidala returns to free her people. The Flash Speeder represents that local resistance, a side of the story that often gets overshadowed by the Jedi, the Gungans and the space battle overhead. In a prequel collection, it adds a vehicle that is neither Republic military nor Separatist. That makes it a good way to show the people of Naboo defending their own home.
