Description

A chase among giant trees

In Return of the Jedi, the Rebels land on the forest moon of Endor to knock out the shield generator protecting the second Death Star. Luke and Leia run into Imperial scouts, and what follows is a breakneck pursuit on speeder bikes between enormous tree trunks. It remains one of the most memorable action scenes of the original trilogy, and it was an obvious pick for one of the earliest sets in the range.

Built for swooshing

With three minifigures and small, light bikes, this set is made for play. The models fit easily in one hand, so recreating the chase around the living room is half the fun. Add other Endor sets and the forest can grow to include more trees, Ewok villages or the bunker. As a display piece it also shows how the range looked at the very beginning, with simpler shapes and figures than today. The short build means the chase can start almost straight away.

What the parts list shows

Dark grey, brown, black and green are the main colours. Brown and green reflect the forest floor and foliage of Endor, while the dark grey is the older shade used before dark bluish grey took over. The 93 pieces include 31 unique elements, meaning many shapes repeat. For a set with several bikes built the same way, that makes sense and keeps the instructions straightforward even for young builders tackling their first model.
