A first-year set

The Star Wars theme began in 1999, and Episode I was the new film at the centre of it. That puts the Naboo Fighter right at the start of the line. Models from this period rely on standard bricks and plates more than on specialised parts, and their shapes are simpler than those of later versions. For collectors, that is part of the appeal, since sets like this show where the theme's design approach started and how much it has changed since.

Anakin's accidental battle

In The Phantom Menace, the pilots of Naboo defend their planet against the Trade Federation in these yellow N-1 starfighters. Young Anakin Skywalker, hiding in one of the cockpits, is swept into the space battle and ends up destroying the droid control ship from within, turning the fight in Naboo's favour. It is one of the defining moments of the film. With four minifigures, the set gives you a generous cast for replaying the story or inventing your own.

Yellow and original grey

Yellow is the signature colour, joined by light grey, dark grey and tan. These are the original greys, replaced a few years later by bluish shades, so modern parts will look noticeably different if you use them to complete a used copy. Tan adds a warmer tone to the mix.
