About Star Wars
The licence that changed everything
When the first Star Wars sets appeared in 1999, a licensed theme was still a new idea. Its success opened the door to many later film and TV tie-ins, and the range has run continuously ever since. It follows the saga across the original trilogy, the prequels, the sequels and the live-action and animated series, with starfighters, walkers, bases and a very large cast of minifigures. Alongside regular play sets you will find battle packs, small-scale ships, helmets and buildable characters.
Big builds in the main theme
The largest entry is an unusual one: the Star Wars / M&M Mosaic - Promo Set (SWMP-1) from 2005 with 5,462 pieces. Among retail sets, Mos Eisley Cantina (75290-1, 2020) leads at 3,187 pieces, ahead of Betrayal at Cloud City (75222-1, 2018) at 2,812. The buildable figures are substantial too: Chewbacca (75371-1) has 2,319 pieces, R2-D2 (75308-1) 2,314 and Yoda (75255-1) 1,771. Tantive IV (75244-1) comes to 1,768, and Offworld Sandcrawler and Mudhorn (75453-1) from 2026 to 1,684.
Where the flagship models live
The very largest ships, such as the Millennium Falcon and the Death Star display models, belong to the Ultimate Collector Series, which has its own sub-theme page. Keeping them separate makes it easier to browse the main range by era, film or type of vehicle.
Rebuilding the classics
Many older ships are long retired.
